Royal Canadian Mint Refinery Exit Stair Addition

Project Architect:
Michael Kelly

Completion Date:
2013

Project Overview:
The Royal Canadian Mint Refinery Exit Stair project consisted of the introduction of a new emergency exit stair addition to this federally designated heritage building in order to bring the building up to current building code standards.  The exit stair was required to address necessary code requirements, and provide various security/safety enhancements with minimal impact on the exterior features of the building.

Great care was taken to design the exterior of the exit stair addition to blend with the overall exterior building design/materials.  The existing heritage windows that were no longer required were carefully removed, restored, and reinstated within the new exit stair exterior walls.
